I wrote this at a time when I wasn't well, and hadn't been feeling right for a long time. That numb, flat feeling that was there had become normal to me, a part of me. A good friend of mine gave me a compliment and it surprised me, seemed to shake me out of my trance. It woke me up to the fact that I didn't feel anything anymore, and that I wasn't OK. Depression can be really nasty, but not knowing or acknowledging it is worse. At that time, I didn't know if I'd ever really feel alive again. I'm glad to say, I'm back!
